i have been putting off blogging due to concomitant bouts of studying, rugby world cup finals (congratulations SA! woohoo!) and various other distractions of the past few days but i realize now that the importance of decoding the various mysteries of some of these lecture notes is only slightly less important than the need to express whatever's on one's mind.

of one of the grey's anatomy episodes, george and meredith discussed how people perceive doctors as superheroes. i dont know what the basis of that is but what i understand from it is that it has little to do with how smart doctors are. i think what sets them apart is the ability to persevere. its the ability to push on despite knowing that the end is far, and/or that there is no perceivable ending. that most of the time, things will most probably only get harder and yet one must prevail. that it takes every once of determination and energy and it saps one from a lot of whatever life one has and it makes one a little more human, and at the same time, a little less.

so yes, maybe we see the guy in private practice charging us rm 60 for 25 minutes of his time and rm125 for all the sophisticated meds he's prescribed and life seems so pretty for him with his 6 series parked nicely under that designated carpark he has. but i can bet on the fact that he had hard times, no matter how ancient that history seems to be.

if anyone finds the need to know what's on in the lives and minds of medical students/interns/personnel, please refer to grey's anatomy S01E01. i promise it will blow your mind (because it so very completely blew mine). maybe because im biased and im prone to getting emotionally entwined in the little things that litter such addictive tv shows. but maybe its also because its all true.

so maybe what we need is to realize what makes us wear our underwear on the outside.
