i was lying down

on the couch

this afternoon

and i was thinking

and inwardly giggling to myself

i might be twisted

i might be more untowardly

than expected of me

i might have experienced

certain things

that i shudn't have

at this point

in my life

but it tickled me

that something

people take for granted

in their everyday lives

could be so significant

to me

it just provokes me

to want to believe

that i still have

that slice of innocence

i might not be happy

and i might not have the world

or everything i want in it

but at least

i am myself

and what probably prompted the giggle

subconciously

was the fact

that all that innocence

simply wants me

to see

that i am learning.
